Sunset Hill Stoneware

Not what they used to be. I had a Sunset Hill mug for my coffee for many years and loved it. I broke it two years ago and bought 2 replacements. I love them. I never drink my coffee without one of them. So, this year I thought it would be nice to add a couple more. I ordered 2 and you can see in the picture that Sunset Hill has changed the way they make the mugs. The older mug is on the left in both pictures. You can see the older one is thicker and has a better heft. The new one on the right is very thin and doesn't feel like a handmade mug at all. It's as thin as the few commercial made mugs I have. Normally I wouldn't care this much, but they are $30 each. For that cost, they should be like the older ones, think with a good heft and a thick, solid handle. I am returning the 2 new ones I bought and am very disappointed. Note that both of the newer mugs are like this. The new mugs I ordered are different colors but both are way to thin and just don't feel right. I'm pretty bummed about this even though it's a small issue in the grand scheme of things. If anyone has a recommendation for a quality, handmade coffee mug like SHS used to make, please let me know.
